Facebook vs. MySpace

Facebook is really starting to take off internationally. I’ve noticed it just in friend requests I have recently received from contacts in Poland, Mexico, Egypt, and Peru. In total, Facebook now has 200 million users around the world. This compares to 130 million users around the globe for MySpace. MySpace continues to boast a larger crowd in the USA, although I would be curious as to how many of those profiles are illegitimate and creepy. Facebook seems to be gaining larger ground with legitimate profiles. They are also heavily attracting the over 40 crowd.

MySpace still seems to be the go-to locale for musicians. But with Facebook gaining ground and becoming better situated overseas, it’s time to create a band Facebook page if you don’t already have one.
