Global Music Sales
Friday, 20th June 2008
Here are some more global music sales numbers. Please note these numbers differ from the numbers in my blog from yesterday. That is because these numbers are for albums whereas the numbers yesterday were for albums & singles. This time the info comes from IFPI:
- Global sales of albums in 2007 were 1.86 billion albums (every 10 downloads counted as an album).
- Global revenues were $19.4 billion (physical formats $15.9 billion (82%) and digital formats $2.9 billion (15%)).
- Physical formats down 13%, digital formats up 34%, but not enough to compensate each other.
Stay tuned,
Erik
