MySpace Playlist Sharing

A new development out of MySpace will have big implications for musicians. MySpace is now allowing artist to publish and share their playlists on a number of different social networking sites. Some of the majors include LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. Artists can also spread their album cover pages to these sites, as well as to blogs & emails.

Another upgrade is that it is now possible for artists to upload 10 songs instead of the previous 6. It will now be easier to maintain one main online presence at MySpace (still what most people look for with a band – “do you guys have a myspace page?), while using information from MySpace in social networking sites. That would in turn bring people back to the MySpace page.

With the popularity of Facebook, and the extensive social networking aspect of the site, it is still wise for bands to have both a MySpace and Facebook presence. However, these developments by MySpace will make it easier to concentrate on MySpace, while using Facebook, Twitter, and blogs to drive awareness of the music.

Stay tuned,
Erik
