The Beatles Video Game

MTV-owned Harmonix and the Beatles’ Apple Corps Ltd. have just announced a new video game that will be based solely upon the catalog of Beatles music. This is very significant as the Beatles have never released their catalog of music to iTunes. The release of the game is expected for Fall of 2009 but does not yet have a name. The game will be part of the “Rock Band” group of games, but it is unknown whether or not the Beatles catalog will also be available for download to the Rock Band video game.

The idea for the video game is to take the player on an “experimental journey” through the music of the Beatles. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will both be involved in the creative direction of the project.

No details of the deal were released, but as more is known about the project and release date, I will be sure to blog about it.
