Warner Music Publishing Revenues

We can obtain a pretty good glimpse into the music industry by looking at Warner Bros latest Publishing numbers. Here are some highlights:

  • mechanical royalties dropped 20.4% (recordings played of the song)
  • overall publishing revenues dropped 12.5% percent to $147 million
  • performance royalties dropped 4.5%
  • synchronization royalties up 20.8% (music synchronized to film, tv, etc.)
  • digital publishing revenues up 60% to $16 million

This points to where the money is going – digital & synchronization. As a band, you should be trying to pitch your songs to be included in movies and tv shows.

Stay tuned,
